The Role of Self-Efficacy and Resilience in Nurses' Quality of Life

Introduction: Positive psychology, along with the repair of injuries, moves towards optimizing the quality of life. The quality of life of nurses is very important high levels of work stress of nurses can affect their quality of life and consequently the quality and quantity of patient care. The purpose of this research was to investigate the role of self-efficacy and resilience in the quality of life of nurses. Materials and Methods: The present study was a descriptive-correlational study. The population was nurses working in Tehran in 2016-2017. The sample consists of 200 individuals selected by random sampling method. Subjects completed World Health Organization Quality of Life Questionnaire, Scherer Self-efficacy and Connor and Davidson Resilience Questionnaire. Results: Self-efficacy significantly increases the quality of life of nurses in Tehran hospitals by 0.266. In addition, the contribution of the resilience variables was significant (0.385) in predicting the quality of life of nurses in this city. Self-efficacy and resiliency can together account for 33.6% of variance in nursing quality of life. Conclusion: Resiliency skills training and increasing the psychological capabilities, especially self-efficacy, are effective approaches for improving the nurses' quality of life.
