Instruction for the authors for manuscript submission in the Neuroscience Journal of Shefaye Khatam
Simply log on to Shefaye Khatam Journal and follow the onscreen instructions for all submissions.
If you have not logged on to Shefaye Khatam Journal before, you will need to register first.
Manuscript Requirements
Please ensure that anything you submit to the Neuroscience Journal of Shefaye Khatam follows the guidelines provided for each article type. The articles including research, review, scientific hypothesis, case report and letter to the editor should be written in Persian with two English and Persian abstracts.
1. Manuscript should be submitted online via the Neuroscience Journal of Shefaye Khatam at www.ShefayeKhatam.ir.
2.The article should be sent in both Word and PDF formats.
3. The Persian text of manuscript should be in 12 point, B Nazanin font. The all English words inside the manuscript as well as English abstract should be in 10 point, Times New Roman font(Please see more details in the table below).
4. Your paper needs to be typed and single-spaced on standard-sized paper.
5. All manuscripts should be accompanied by a clear statement that the work has not been published elsewhere and is not under review with another journal.
6. This letter of commitment should be signed by corresponding author.
7. Manuscript language should be accurate, concise and clear. The English equivalent of specialized words can be given as a footnote.

All formulas should be sent separately in the form of images.
Footnotes font should be Times New Roman, 8 pt and should be placed on the bottom-left side of the article.
Tables:
All Persian texts font should be BNazanin and 10 pt and all English words should be Times New Roman.
The main titles should be bold.
The main titles should be placed in white on a blue background (with color specifications: Blue-accent1-Darker 50%).
The first row should be placed in black on a white background.
The rest rows are in black on a blue background (with color specification: Blue-accent1-lighter 80%).
All texts in the tables should be placed in the center.

Types of articles
Original Research
Title page
A brief title, author name (s), and affiliation (s) of the authors must be included. The name and address of the corresponding author should be separately and clearly indicated with email and telephone details in both Persian and English.

Abstract
The Persian and English abstracts should not exceed 300 words. The abstract should include introduction, materials and methods, results, and conclusion.
Key words
At the end of the abstract, should mention to key words (3-5), according to the medical subject heading; MeSH.
Main Text
To report original results of research within the field of neuroscience usually up to 3500 words. For original research article, main text should include introduction, materials and methods, results, and conclusion.
Organization of the Manuscript
Introduction
The Introduction should briefly indicate the objectives of the study and provide enough background information to clarify why the study was undertaken and what hypotheses were tested.
Materials and Methods
The materials and methods section should be brief but sufficient to allow other investigators to repeat the research. Reference should be made to publish procedures wherever possible. The sex of subjects should be stated. All companies from which materials were obtained should be listed. If materials were obtained from an individual, an affiliation for that individual should be listed. A manuscript that presents only a theory may omit the Materials and Methods section.
Appropriate written consents and permissions must be obtained where you wish to include any case details, personal information, and/or images of patients or other individuals in The Neuroscience Journal of Shefaye Khatam journal in order to comply with all applicable laws and regulations concerning privacy and/or security of personal information. Studies on patients or volunteers need approval from an ethics committee and informed consent from participants. These should be documented in your paper.
To publish the clinical studies in the journal, the registration in IRCT or other clinical registries approved by WHO must be performed prior to submission. For animal studies, the ethical approval committee has to be mentioned in the method section.
Results
This section should present clearly but succinctly the experimental findings. Only results essential to establish the main points of the work should be included. Numerical data should be analyzed using appropriate statistical tests. Authors must provide detailed information for each statistical test applied including: the type of test; specific p values (not > or <); degrees of freedom; population size; definition of population (e. g., number of individual measurements, number of animals, number of slices, number of times treatment was applied, etc.).
Figures
All images must have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi with Tif and/or JPEG format.
Legends
A legend must be included in the manuscript document after the reference list. Legends should include sufficient detail to be intelligible without reference to the text. Legends must define all symbols and include essential information.
Conclusion
The discussion section should be as concise as possible and should include a brief statement of the principal findings, a discussion of the validity of the observations, a discussion of the findings about other published work dealing with the same or closely related subjects, and a statement of the possible significance of the work. Extensive discussion of the literature is discouraged.
Role of the funding source
All sources of funding should be declared as an acknowledgment at the end of the text.
At the end of the Methods section, under a subheading “Role of the funding source”, authors must describe the role of the study sponsor(s), if any, in study design; in the collection, analysis, and interpretation of data; in the writing of the report; and in the decision to submit the paper for the publication.
References
Only published and "in press" (i.e., accepted for publication in a specific journal or book) references should appear in the reference list at the end of the paper. The latest information on "in press" references should be provided.
- Cite references in the text sequentially in the Vancouver numbering style, as a number after any sentences. For example: (11).
- Two references are cited separately by a comma, with a space.
For example:
- Three or more consecutive references are cited separately by a hyphen, with no space.
For example:
- References in tables, figures, and graphs should be in numerical order according to where the item is cited in the text.
- If there are six authors or fewer, give all six in the text. For example:

- If there are seven or more give the first three in the same way, followed by et al. For example:

- For a Journal, give the authors name, title of the article, Journal name (the journal names should be abbreviated), year of publication, volume, and page number. For example:

- For a book, give any editors and publisher, the title of the book, the edition, the city of publication, year of publication, and page numbers. For example:

- For a thesis, give the authors name, thesis tittle, degree, city, university, Faculty, and the year. For example:

- Online journal article can be cited using the DOI number. For example:

Review article
The format of review articles is more fluid but should include the following:
Title page, abstract, conclusions, declaration of interest, funding, references, figure legends, figures/ tables. Review submissions should be limited to 7000 words. We recommend a Minimum of 40 references for review articles. In review articles, the field and expertise of at least one of the authors must be related to the topic of the article, and review articles are accepted only from experienced and knowledgeable authors who have authored articles in this field. At least 10% of the reliable sources should be cited to the authors’publications.
Hypothesis
To describe a substantial jump in thinking that is testable but not so easily testable that readers will wonder why you have not already done it. For hypothesis, the main text and abstract should be included introduction, hypothesis, and conclusion.
Case Report
To present a clinical story of a difficult differential diagnosis in an engaging and concise manner. Novelty is not essential, but at least one broadly useful learning point is. For case report, the main text and abstract should be included introduction, case description, results, and conclusion.
Letter to the editor
To present comments and clarifications on article those have been published in Neuroscience research, and should be limited to a maximum of 1000 words.
Covering letter
You should upload your covering letter at the online submission process.
Conflict of interest
All authors are requested to disclose any actual or potential conflict of interest including any financial, personal or other relationships with other people or organizations for the submitted work that could inappropriately influence, or be perceived to influence, their work.
Furthermore, all manuscripts should be accompanied by a clear statement that the work has not been published elsewhere and is not under review with another journal.
*The editorial board is free to accept, reject, make corrections, and edit articles. The results of all articles that meet the above conditions will be returned to the corresponding author after reviewing and receiving the opinions of scientific editorial (at least 3). If the corrections are made and it is returned on time (up to 3 weeks), the final review will be done. In case of non-acceptance, the author will be notified. These steps last at least 40 days and at most 120 days.
