افسردگی در سالمندی به‌عنوان عامل خطر ابتلا به زوال عقل و اختلال خفیف شناختی: مکانیسم‌ها و فرایندهای میانجی آن

مقدمه: در سال‌های اخیر در ایران جمعیت سالمندان رو به افزایش بوده است. انتظار می‌رود در 30 سال آینده جمعیت سالمندان سه برابر شود. لذا پرداختن به بیماری‌ها و معضلات سالمندی موضوع بسیار مهمی است. پژوهش حاضر مروری بر ادبیات پژوهشی حوزه افسردگی سالمندان و دمانس است. موضوعات زیر مورد بحث قرار گرفته است: آیا میان افسردگی دیررس و دمانس بهخصوص در بیماری آلزایمر رابطه‌ای وجود دارد؟ آیا افسردگی می‌تواند به‌عنوان عامل خطری برای بیماری آلزایمر در نظر گرفته شود؟ مکانیسم‌های اساسی ارتباط بین بیماری آلزایمر و افسردگی دیررس چیست؟ نتیجه‌گیری: این مقاله به بررسی ارتباط میان افسردگی دیررس و آلزایمر می‌پردازد و مسیر مکانیسم‌های مشترک این دو شرایط پاتولوژی را تشریح می‌کند.
