Effectiveness of Integrative Transdiagnostic Treatment Program on the Resilience and Adaptation of Parents of Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder

Introduction: Parents of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) are at increased risk of experiencing a wide range of psychological difficulties. Therefore, developing interventions aimed at improving their psychological well-being is of considerable importance. The present study investigated the effectiveness of an integrative transdiagnostic intervention on resilience and adjustment among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder .Materials and Methods: This study employed a quasi-experimental design with pretest–posttest assessments and a control group. The statistical population consisted of all parents of children with autism spectrum disorder in Dehgolan County during the 2024–2025 academic year. A total of 30 parents who met the inclusion criteria were selected using convenience sampling. Participants were then randomly assigned to either an experimental group (n = 15) or a control group (n =15). Data were collected using the Connor–Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) and the Bell Adjustment Inventory. The integrative transdiagnostic intervention was administered to the experimental group in 10 sessions over two months, while the control group received no intervention .Results: The results of the multivariate analysis of covariance indicated significant differences between the experimental and control groups in resilience and adjustment. Following the intervention, the experimental group showed a statistically significant increase in resilience and adjustment scores compared with the control group .Conclusion: This study indicates that the integrative transdiagnostic intervention is effective in enhancing resilience and adjustment among parents of children with autism spectrum disorder. Incorporating this intervention into therapeutic and educational programs for parents of children with ASD is recommended.
